I Refused to Wish My Team Leader on Her Birthday
Next thing I knew I was fired
I honestly never thought this would ever happen to me.
In real life I’m quiet, very work focused and always ready to help my colleagues out with their software issues. I bring home my work sometimes. I’ve prepared presentations to train staff. I’ve introduced efficiencies in work flows which has increased productivity. I’ve been doing this job since my daughter was 6 months old. Full time. No work from home.
I thought I was giving my job everything.
Apparently not.
But to be fair — the company was right. I wasn’t giving my job everything.
I finished my work and left my job at 4:30pm without fail. I had to take a lot of sick leaves for my daughter who was in day care — also full time. And worst of all — the cardinal sin — I let my team leader take the fall for her own mistakes. Oh and I also refused to wish her Happy Birthday on that same day.
*Gasp*
How could I do that? Especially with a baby at home and bills to pay?
