The sun shines harshly down on the vast empty land, and tumbleweeds roll across the red soil. Amid this desolate landscape, a dusty white van trundles down a narrow dirt road, its rambunctious occupants jostling each other as they argue over camera angles and lighting.

“You can’t just point it at the sun and hope for the best!” Dan, the self-proclaimed director, snatches the camera back from his brother Mike, who suddenly decides he’s an expert in cinematography.

“I’m just saying,” Mike insists, adjusting his oversized aviator sunglasses. “A little lens flare could make the documentary look more intense. More authentic, if you will.”

Dan and Mike, the masterminds behind ‘Ghost Watchers,’ a struggling YouTube channel investigating paranormal hauntings, have managed to persuade their friends to join them for a summer road trip into the outback. While their enthusiasm is high, their friends’ is slowly diminishing.

Emma, the real tech expert within the group, sighs as she fiddles with the microphone clipped to her hoodie. “Listen, it’ll just make it look like we don’t know…
