Previously: That night, one of the investigators sees something strange in the bush…
The next day dawns hot and cloudless, the sun shining bright and harsh even though it’s only morning. The group packs up and drives over to the next town, hoping to find something — anything — that will justify their journey. While the rest of the group are their usual jovial selves, Mike is unusually silent, though barely anyone notices.
The next town turns out to be slightly bigger than the last one, with more buildings clustered around a central dusty street. But it still has the same quiet, almost eerie feel.
“Alright, gang,” Dan says, stepping out of the van and shielding his eyes against the sun. “Let’s split up and see if we can find any leads. It’s a bigger town, so we’re bound to get something good here.”
“Yeah, like heatstroke,” Pete mutters as he follows Dan, squinting at the barren street.
“Camera working all right?” he asked Emma who was tinkering with it.
“Funnily enough, yes,” Emma points the camera at him and observes the now working screen. “Not sure what…
