The Ranger’s Hut
Lost in the wilderness, the group finds some help. Or so they think…
Previously: On the eve of heading back home, the hikers loose their guide….
“Don’t go losing your heads now,” the bearded man comments lazily. “That’s how the drop bears get you.”
“Well, you’re not helping us at all.” Mark glares at the man.
“Me?” The man looks astonished. “I’m helping you plenty. Didn’t I just tell you to go back where you came from?”
“Yeah, that’s totally helpful,” Lisa quips sarcastically.
“It is, isn’t it?” The man is oblivious to the group’s fury.
“Look, you’ve got to tell us what’s going on,” Mark insists. “Why the hell did those drop bears take Jake?”
“Must have pissed them off,” the man comments.
“How?” Lisa wonders. “Jake told us the drop bears were scared of him!”
“Did he really?” The man looks skeptical.
“Well, he said that nothing would happen to us as long as we stuck with Jake,” Lisa admits.
“There you are then,” the man nods as if that clears up everything.
